A POPULAR TRADITION THAT PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE BULLFIGHTING CULTURE OF OUR MUNICIPALITIES.
The Toro Enmaromado de Yuncos has its origin in 1978, being called at that time “Toro Aguardiente”, which is celebrated in February on the occasion of the feast of San Blas.
The town of Yuncos, traditionally celebrates these peculiar running of the bulls of its Toro Enmaromado, on the occasion of its September Patron Saint Festivities, in honor of the Virgen del Consuelo.
BETWEEN 6 AND 15 SEPTEMBER, SHARE THIS DEEP-ROOTED FESTIVAL OF THE REGION OF LA SAGRA WITH THE PEOPLE OF YUNQUEROS.
This celebration consists of taking a bull through the streets of the town. The release takes place from the box directly onto Calle Real, an impressive environment, protected by walls on both sides of the street, decorated and full of people waiting for the exit. Once the animal has followed the marked route, it returns to the crate from which it started.
The bull is framed with two ropes: one of about 70 meters in front and another of about 25 meters behind approximately; although the bull is framed, the objective is to take him as loose as possible, so that the animal charges straight ahead and performs a trot from less to more, in order to produce exciting races caused by the maromeros.
A TRADITION DECLARED A FESTIVAL OF TOURIST INTEREST SO THAT THOSE WHO LOVE THE BULLFIGHTING WORLD CAN ENJOY THE POPULAR CULTURE OF OUR TOWNS.
During the course of the bullfight, the maromeros guide the bull, citing it in front of them. On the back side, a distance of about 5 meters is left to avoid possible damage to the animal when it turns abruptly and also so that the rope does not become entangled, carrying it without touching the ground and as little tense as possible to favor the animal’s lunges and starts.
