This municipality has been inhabited since prehistoric times, with Romans, Arabs and later Christians forging the character of this town, as demonstrated by the ten archaeological sites distributed throughout the municipality. The term Dosbarrios is due to the fact that they were originally two villages separated by the valley called Carábanos. Its curious name comes from the fact that in the past they were two different villages, until they joined together to form a large urban complex worthy of admiration, with the 12th century being the century of consolidation of its urban structure. The village preserves an almond-shaped urban plan of medieval origin. Its main street leads to the Plaza Mayor, where the 19th century town hall and the 16th century granary are located. The rest of the town centre has an irregular layout with several squares and manor houses for residential and agricultural use. These include the Casa de los Monos and the Casa de la Tercia.

This historic town is located in the central area of La Mesa de Ocaña, on a hill next to the Barranco stream. In addition to the attraction of its archaeological sites, which refer to its prehistoric origins, there are the ruins of the castle of Monreal and the natural area of the Cedrón lagoons. It is therefore a landscape of contrasts, with hills, valleys and plains dominated by a wide variety of vegetation. Different routes and trails cross its lands, allowing hikers and cyclists to discover its diverse landscapes.
