FESTIVAL IN HONOR OF THE VIRGEN DE LA PIEDAD OF VILLANUEVA DE ALCARDETE

THIS FESTIVAL, WHICH MIXES THE PROFANE AND THE RELIGIOUS IN HONOUR OF THE VIRGIN OF PIETY, WILL TAKE PLACE ON 8, 9, 10, 11 AND 12 NOVEMBER 2024.

The social transcendence that marks this tradition is lost in the reglones of history when mixed with the origin of the carving of the XV century and the years of his enthronement in the patronage of the town S. XVII and XVIII.

The festivities in honor of the Virgen de la Piedad are celebrations with a great religious fervor. The most beautiful and worth seeing is the procession where the Danzantas and the Gabozorra, in beautiful starched costumes, They dance tirelessly in front of the image with their gaze fixed on it and later they perform the dances called ” alabarderos ” which consist of dances of paloteos, the snake, the cross and the cordon, called “alabarderos” which consist of dances of “paloteos”, ” culebra”, ” cruz ” and ” cordón”.
