ENJOY THE SECLUSION AND THE TRADITIONAL RELIGIOUS ATMOSPHERE OF THE HOLY WEEK OF TOLEDO BETWEEN MARCH 22ND AND 31ST. DECLARED A FESTIVAL OF INTERNATIONAL TOURIST INTEREST.

The Holy Week of Toledo attracts and captivates, especially for the dense traditional religious atmosphere in which it unfolds. The silence, the night and the beauty of the city and the images elevate the Toledan Holy Week to its maximum expression. Holy Week in Toledo impresses, among other things, for its penitential severity and for the itineraries that the floats follow between monastic walls, sheds and crossroads of a unique city.

The Board of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods of the Holy Week of Toledo and the Church of Toledo deploy during these days an effort that is reflected in processions, Holy Offices and other services such as the visit to the Blessed Sacrament in the traditional Monuments of the afternoon of Holy Thursday and the morning of Good Friday. Acts that are lived with great intensity and devotion throughout the week.

20 BROTHERHOODS AND CONFRATERNITIES THAT HAVE THEIR ROOTS IN THE SIXTEENTH, SEVENTEENTH AND EIGHTEENTH CENTURIES AND OTHER NEW ONES, WHICH SHOW AND MAINTAIN THE TRADITIONS OF YESTERYEAR.

The twenty brotherhoods not only organize and develop the processions, but are a true reflection of Toledo’s history and culture. Such as the Mozarabic knights and ladies, those founded in the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries, or those that have arisen at the beginning of our XXI century. All of them transmit emotions and sensations charged with spirituality, religiosity and meditation that make this religious festival a cultural ecstasy of great ethnographic and mystical value that has led to its declaration as a Festival of International Tourist Interest.

OPEN DOORS OF CONVENTS, CHURCHES AND MONASTERIES.

During these days of religious fervor, Toledo citizens and visitors have the opportunity to approach convent temples closed behind high walls the rest of the year and contemplate the steps and monuments that treasure the religious heritage of the city of Toledo. A day of Open Doors in all parishes, churches, convents and monasteries that will serve to contemplate and experience the solemn ceremonies of Holy Thursday and Good Friday.
