This house belonged to one of the most illustrious families of El Toboso, the Martínez Zarco de Morales family, whose coat of arms can be seen on the façade. According to tradition, in Cervantes’ time it was inhabited by Don Esteban and his sister Doña Ana, who inspired the character of the peerless Dulcinea of El Toboso.
The building that houses the Dulcinea del Toboso House Museum conserves part of its original structure dating back to the XVI century Despite the various transformations it has undergone over the years, it retains the character of a typical La Mancha house belonging to a well-to-do nobleman with its various outbuildings: kitchen, courtyard, mill, cellar, corrals, wells, etc..;
