Regarding the old castle, we must point out that it is a rectangular building flanked at its corners by four circular towers of which only two remain today. The 15th century castle is also rectangular in plan with different towers at its corners. One of them, the homage, is square and has five floors. Another highlight of this new castle is its parade ground, a large place that houses all the infrastructure of the fortress. The fabric of the building is stone. Ashlar is used in the walls and ashlars in the most visible places. At present, the castle is owned by the city council and houses, next to the county palace, a national parador hotel.
