La Rinconada is one of the villages of agricultural colonization of irrigated farming in the “Lands of Talavera de la Reina” carried out by the INC (National Institute of Colonization) in the middle of the twentieth century. Located on the left bank of the Tagus River, in a quiet stretch of wide meanders, it enjoys a pleasant environment and tranquility.

In addition to the great river Tajo, the Arroyo del Torcón crosses the area, coming from the Montes de Toledo, until it flows into the Tajo. Through the network of tracks and paths it is possible to follow the riverbed up to the municipal boundary with San Martín de Montalbán, enjoying the irrigated and dry farming environment.

La Rinconada de Tajo is an Eatim dependent on La Puebla de Montalbán. It is one of those villages of new colonization, of the many that were made in the mid-twentieth century by the National Institute of Colonization, similar to others that were made in the area, in the fertile lowlands of the Tagus or in the fertile plains of nearby rivers.

This town enjoys an excellent natural area along the banks of the Tagus where nature lovers can enjoy observing the native flora and fauna characteristic of riverside environments. In La Rinconada, visitors can enjoy a wide range of tourist leisure activities such as hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, camping, youth hostel and other activities such as fishing. Through the natural path of the Tagus (GR-113) you can cross the municipality and discover the rich landscape of its lands where historical roads, riparian undergrowth and irrigated fields are mixed.

The Torcón rises in the Montes de Toledo and after crossing San Martin de Montalbán serves as a moat for the Castle of Montalbán. Three kilometers downstream from the castle we find the Ruidero Bridge and its adjoining waterfall.

In La Rinconada we can enjoy the traditional course of the Tagus with an apparently normal riverbed, where we can contemplate a beautiful scene with La Puebla de Montalbán in the background dotted with numerous waterfowl.

AN ITINERARY WHERE YOU CAN DISCOVER SURPRISING NATURAL AREAS OF GREAT ECOLOGICAL VALUE ON A PLEASANT BIKE RIDE OR ON FOOT.

Along this route the visitor will be able to contemplate important natural spaces that will surprise by their landscape wealth as the Cascada del Molino del Puente Ruidero, place where the Torcón stream acquires a spectacular waterfall that gave place (for use of the same one) to a mill (at the present time reconverted in house of farming) of which we can only see the structure and one of the stones of the mill with use of table in its main facade. Along with this, other areas such as the Cárcavas de la Rinconada next to the Tajo River, the Ruidero Bridge or the Descansadero del Fresnedal, the latter belonging to the Cañada de Montalbán cattle track.
