New Hiking Routes in the Montes de Toledo: A Project to Boost Tourism and the Connection between Municipalities

Six urban routes and trails are pending tender and signposting, as part of the Provincial Council’s plan for sustainable tourism in the Montes de Toledo.

The project “Trails of Toledo” projectpromoted by the Diputación de Toledo and as part of the tourism sustainability plan in the Montes de Toledo, continues to make progress with the forthcoming tender and signposting of six new hiking routes in the Sonseca area. These routes, which will be integrated into the province’s Footpath Network, are designed to promote sustainable tourism and the enhancement of the region’s natural and cultural heritage.

Scheduled routes include:

  • Route 1: Sonseca – Casalgordo – Los Yébenes – Marjaliza – Sonseca.
  • Route 2: Sonseca – Arisgotas – Torre Tolanca – Sonseca.
  • Route 3: Sonseca – Orgaz – Convento del Castañar – Ventas con Peña Aguilera – Sonseca.
  • Route 4: Sonseca – Mazarambroz – Pulgar – Ventas con Peña Aguilera – Convento del Castañar – Sonseca.
  • Route 5: Sonseca – Sonseca.
  • Route 6: Sonseca – Mazarambroz – Pulgar – Ventas con Peña Aguilera – San Pablo de los Montes – Ventas – Sonseca.

In addition to these routes, it is planned to signpost an urban route in Los Navalucilloswhich will highlight the local heritage and allow visitors to explore the historical and cultural richness of the municipality. Another important project is the signposting of the Hoz de CarbonerosPath.located in the town of Navahermosa, which will become an attraction for nature lovers, with the creation of routes that will connect several municipalities, benefiting both walkers and cyclists. Likewise, the extension and signposting of the”Ruta de La Milagra y El Cabezo”, which links Hontanar and Malamoneda, will include clearing work and a new interpretation of the path, which will enrich the user experience.
