This municipality arose in the 12th century from farmhouses, but it already had a nomadic settlement in the Palaeolithic and later in Roman times, according to the archaeological remains found in the municipality. A town dominated by popular and Mudejar-style architecture, as can be seen in the town centre and the parish church.

Flat lands crossed by several streams, which favour the existence of large fields of crops crossed by paths and roads that cross its territory, including the Camino de Santiago from Levante, routes that allow visitors and pilgrims to appreciate the plains of Toledo and enjoy a pleasant stroll, either on foot or by bicycle.

What to see?

Parish Church of Ntra. Sra. De la Redonda

The exact date of its construction and consecration is unknown, but it is thought to have been built in the late 15th century in the Mudejar style. It is currently an irregularly shaped building, the construction project was designed with a Latin cross floor plan to which various later outbuildings were added, such as the baptistery, on the lower left-hand side, and the chapel of the Holy Christ, in the angle between the presbytery and the right arm of the floor plan. The elevation of the church has a double-sloped roof, a skylight in the transept and a double-arched belfry at the foot of the nave. The temple was dedicated to the mystery of the Assumption of the Virgin in body and soul to glory, hence its primitive and genuine name of the church of Santa Maria. This title was replaced in the low Baroque period by that of Our Lady of the Round, a change brought about by the placing on the baldachin or display stand of an enthroned carving of Mary holding a "round" shaped attribute in her right hand.
