More information:

The Risco Ñaña route is characterised by the typical landscapes of the mountains of the Montes de Toledo and the characteristic detritic moors of the southern plateau. This route begins in the Plaza del Rollo, belonging to the municipality of Espinoso del Rey (Toledo), in which stands El Rollo, a monument granted in 1579 by Felipe II as a symbol of its appointment as a Villazgo.

The route continues southeast along Calle Huertas, arriving at Risco Farizoso, located on the Robledo del Buey road, commonly known by the locals as the chestnut tree road due to the presence of a great variety of chestnut trees along the road. It is also worth mentioning the existence in this area of rare species of acid soil orchids and various species of rockroses.

This first transect of the route ends at the foot of Risco Ñaña, coinciding with the boundary between the municipality of Espinoso del Rey and Los Navalucillos. The views from the top of the cliff are spectacular, and you can find fossil remains of trilobites or ripples created by the movement of sea water when the area was submerged in the sea millions of years ago. It is also an area of great scenic beauty, ideal for the sighting of birds native to the area, such as griffon vultures, golden eagles, peregrine falcons… etc.

The route then continues along the Rarbollanos path, characterised by an extensive pine forest (Pinus pinaster), home to numerous species of fauna such as crows, roe deer, foxes, wild boar, genets, etc….

Finally, you will walk along the “camino de la ruda”, where it is possible to see olive tree plantations, typical of Mediterranean agriculture, from which you will reach the starting point of the route, thus ending the route.
